On Tuesday, November 14th – the Orthopaedic Foundation, a 501 C(3) non-profit medical research foundation that works to promote research and education in the field of orthopaedics and sports medicine, hosted their 13th Annual Gala at the Grand Hyatt in New York City. The gala honored esteemed Board Member and Philanthropist, Ken Wisdom, former Water Skiing World Champion, Camille Duvall, President of the USSA Foundation, Greg Boester and award-winning Chef, Michel Nischan.
The night kicked off with host, Olga Litvinenko, Miss Connecticut USA 2017, presenting Michel Nischan, a 4x James Beard Foundation Award-Winner, with the “Health, Wellness & Nutrition Award.” Followed by “The Golden Goddess”, Camille Duvall, a five-time World Champion and Hall of Fame water skier, being presented with “Spirit of an Active Lifestyle Award.” The gala also highlighted her past successes as a former broadcast journalist and her succession into real estate, in which she received the “Deal of the Year,” award by the Real Estate Board of New York for her sharp negotiating tactics.
Working alongside Grand Hyatt NY Chef, Kevin Reardon, a 4-course meal and wine pairing was prepared by Michel Nischan. The meal was followed by a decadent dessert crafted by Natalie Whelan.
“We would like to take the time to say ‘thank you’ to those who devote time and effort into the continuous advancement of research in orthopaedics.” said Stephanie Petterson, PhD. “Having honorees from numerous background come together in the community to drive change and inspire future generations is the backbone to this foundation.”
Among the honorees, presented the “Leadership, Vision, & Inspiration” award, was Greg Boester, managing director at J.P. Morgan Chase, also known as a former Olympic Ski Jumper. As well as, Ken Wisdom who was granted the “Philanthropic & Professional Excellence Award” for his work as an avid athlete, philanthropist and managing director at Portfolio Advisors.
Guests also had the chance to enjoy an amazing show provided by America’s Got Talent finalist, Oz Pearlman, a world class entertainer and one the most known mentalists in the country. He wowed guests with his craft through an elite magic show in which the audience was able to participate.
