The New York Women’s Foundation creates an equitable and just future for women and families by uniting a cross-cultural alliance that ignites action and invests in bold, community-led solutions across the city.

We celebrate the humanity in each person and we believe people and relationships are the foundation of our success.

We see the vibrancy, resiliency, and creativity in communities. Our experience has shown us that those facing the greatest obstacles also have the greatest insight and that community leadership is invaluable to developing solutions.

We believe that all voices count and that effective solutions are created when tables are inclusive across social, cultural and economic backgrounds.

The way we carry out philanthropy–with transparency, respect, and partnership–is as important as what we fund.

We take risks in meeting women and families’ challenges head on and are often the first to invest in emerging community-led solutions.

The New York Women’s Foundation has surpassed $100 million in grantmaking since its founding 35 years ago! This milestone marks the support and deep partnership with more than 500 organizations whose work ensures the economic security, safety and health of women and their communities in New York City and beyond.

The Foundation’s latest round of grant making totaled over $2 million, awarded to 45 grantee partners and centered around three main themes: equity, education and empowerment. In total, The Foundation funded 151 organizations across the 5 boroughs and beyond in 2021.

The New York Women’s Foundation denounces all forms of racism, bias, and acts of violence.

We are deeply disturbed that Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in the U.S. continue to be singled out and scapegoated for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Racist words and actions are harmful and undermine their right to live safe, secure, and prosperous lives. The Foundation rejects xenophobia and nativism and is in solidarity with the communities that these incidents have harmed.

We join with our grantee partners and community activists to take action by investing in solutions that advance justice.

We wanna thank you for voting, for supporting our work to get others to be supported to vote. Thank you to our grantee partners for your incredible and continuous work in getting your communities ready to vote and make their voices heard. Our work is not done. As we wait for one of the offices, which is the presidency’s results, we know that we have had very important victories in local and state levels.

Victories that, along with us, will propel forward the policies and supports so that every woman, every family, in the city, in the state, and in the country thrive, are economically secure, have health access, educational access.

Our work is not done. We will continue regardless of who is the president and we will continue because of you, because I know that you will be here with us. So onward, and thank you.

Over one thousand woman were in attendance at the 35^th annual, celebrating woman breakfast , The following five woman were honored: Ada Williams Prince, Director, program strategy and investment for Pivotal ventures, Mrs Prince was not able to attend in person , sent an recorded message of thanking the The New York Women’s Foundation, for honoring her and her work. The other four honorees were:

Rebecca Cokley, Program officer, US Disability Rights for Ford foundation, Carla Harris, Vice Chairman Managing Director, Morgan Stanley, Min Jin Lee, Author of Free food for Millionaires and Pachinko and  Elizabeth Yeampierre, Executive Director of Uprose.

Attorney General Letitia James was the honored guest and keynote speaker,as well as presenting award to Rebecca Cokley, Program officer, US Disability Rights for Ford foundation.

The Program started off with a special performance by Fogo Azul NYC, welcoming remarks by Grainne McNamara, Board Chair and Yvonne Moore also board chair. After the award presentations Grantee partners spoke about their personal experiences and how The New York Women’s Foundation has helped them.

Remarks were delivered by Ana L. Oliveira,President and CEO of The New York  Women’s Foundation, Karen Choi, board of directors, Mignon Espy Edwards , board of directors. Closing performance was by the KCS Senior Dance team.

It was great to see so many friends and organizations in one room again and helping humanity, to the very highest level.
