Sharecare a digital health industry is helping people to administer all their health in one place. The company is a leader in the visual health revolution by utilizing mixed reality, augmented and virtual, making people stronger in the healthcare ecosystem to better communicate and understand medical diagnoses, treatments and patient journeys. Sharecare co founder and cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Oz showed Sharecare’s immersive, real time simulation of the human body available for HTC Vive.
Sharecare is a private business founded in October 7,2010 in Atlanta Georgia by Jeff Arnold and Dr. Mehmet Oz. Sharecare started as interactive question and answer program about health and expanded it’s products and services through internal development and
strategic acquisitions of companies including Daily Strength, dotfit, The little Blue Rock, Wise Patient, RealAge, PKC Corporation, BACTES, Quality Health, Feingold Technologies and Healthways. It is built on a social content platform curating the collective knowledge of vetted medical experts. Much of the information is given by organizations like AARP, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and medical professionals. The questions are responded by medical centers like the Cleveland Clinic and John Hopkins. The system allows them to answer questions and participate in conversations about health.
In December 2013, AskMD was started as a web based application t find the right doctors, help collect information about symptoms, and learn about causes. AskMd targets to help consumers get organized around their health and have more productive physician visits by guiding clients through a personalized questionnaire that takes into account symptoms and other factors, like medications and known conditions, and matches answers against the latest clinical research. AskMD’s clinical knowledge management system was developed through Sharecare’s acquisition of PKC Corporation, to bring evidence-based medicine to patients and providers, and enabling clinically-informed communications. It was named Best Medical App at the 4th Annual Appy Awards, and was named an official 2014 Webby Award honoree in Mobile & Apps: Health & Fitness.
