AKC Meet the Breeds events are a fun and educational way to spend a day with the whole family, and maybe even figure out which dog breed is right for you!

If you are attending an AKC Meet the Breeds event in 2023, or are thinking about attending an event in the future, you can find out what dog breeds you can meet at AKC Meet the Breeds in each city as information is available and confirmed. Breeds will be added up to the event date.

All dogs and humans in the breed booths, as well as all dogs and people showing off incredible dog sports and skills in the demo ring are volunteering their time at these events to share the joys of responsible dog ownership with you. No dogs or puppies are for sale or rescue at this event.

In celebration of the upcoming AKC Meet the Breeds® on January 28th and 29th at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, the American Kennel Club (AKC®), a not-for-profit organization, the world’s largest purebred dog registry and leading advocate for dogs, is excited to announce its inaugural list of the most popular dog names of 2022.

“Dogs are an important part of our families, and people take great care in choosing a name,” said AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo. “It’s fun to see if a dog’s personality is reflected in its name.”

According to AKC registration statistics and Canine Partners enrollments, the most popular girl’s name of 2022 was Luna and the most popular boy’s name was Max. Bookending the list at the bottom for girls was Zola and Willie for boys.

Nearly 50 New York lawmakers have shown their support for responsible pet ownership by becoming Honorary Chairpersons for the AKC Meet the Breeds® educational event on January 28 and 29, 2023 in New York City.

“We thank New York legislators for demonstrating their commitment to responsible pet ownership by becoming Honorary Chairpersons for AKC Meet the Breeds,” said Sheila Goffe, Vice President, Government Relations. “Their support is vital to helping us spread the word about the importance of responsible dog ownership and protecting the rights of responsible dog owners. “Over 80 lawmakers from the tristate area have signed on to be Honorary Chairs for the 2023 event.

There was close to 120 Dog Breeds in attendance, Dogs and their handlers travelling from all over the World to be part of the Meet the Breeds show 2023.
