Kiss From a Rose by Seal – 2012

“Kiss From a Rose”

There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea.

You became the light on the dark side of me.

Love remained a drug that’s the high and not the pill.

But did you know,

That when it snows,

My eyes become large and

The light that you shine can be seen.

Baby,

I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.

Ooh,

The more I get of you,

The stranger it feels, yeah.

And now that your rose is in bloom.

A light hits the gloom on the gray.

There is so much a man can tell you,

So much he can say.

You remain,

My power, my pleasure, my pain, baby

To me you’re like a growing addiction that I can’t deny.

Won’t you tell me is that healthy, baby?

But did you know,

That when it snows,

My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen.

Baby,

I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.

Ooh, the more I get of you

The stranger it feels, yeah

Now that your rose is in bloom.

A light hits the gloom on the gray,

I’ve been kissed by a rose on the gray,

I’ve been kissed by a rose

I’ve been kissed by a rose on the gray,

…And if I should fall along the way

I’ve been kissed by a rose

…been kissed by a rose on the gray.

There is so much a man can tell you,

So much he can say.

You remain

My power, my pleasure, my pain.

To me you’re like a growing addiction that I can’t deny, yeah

Won’t you tell me is that healthy, baby?

But did you know,

That when it snows,

My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen.

Baby,

I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.

Ooh, the more I get of you

The stranger it feels, yeah

Now that your rose is in bloom,

A light hits the gloom on the gray.

Yes I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray

Ooh, the more I get of you

The stranger it feels, yeah

And now that your rose is in bloom

A light hits the gloom on the gray

Now that your rose is in bloom,

A light hits the gloom on the gray.

Alicia Keys’ Live Performance of Her Song ‘It’s a New Day’ at The Monster Concert in Las Vegas – 2013

Lyrics of the Song

AK, New day

AK, auu!

Party people say, party people say

Ay, it’s a new day, it’s a new day

The world’s getting ready, everybody ready, yeah

For a new day, for a new day

Celebrate and say, ay, ay, ay, ay

It’s alright to feel however you want to

There’s no limitation no

Fill up your life, let me see your hands up one time

We celebrate mine, cause I ain’t gonna get no more

So we can do this all night

One time, everybody say ay ay oh

There’s a feeling that I got that I can’t give up

Feeling in my heart that I can’t get over

I know that it’s coming like the sun come up

Tell me do you feel like say, everybody say

Party people say, party people say

Ay, it’s a new day, it’s a new day

The world’s they getting ready, everybody ready, yeah

For a new day, for a new day

Celebrate and say, ay, ay, ay, ay

Take a look in my eyes, can’t you see i’m ready

Come along, let’s get it, eh

If you wanna touch the sky, hands in the air one time

All night, no doubt it

I’mma live it loud like there’s only one life

Have to live it up, one life, have to live it up

There’s a feeling that I got that I can’t give up

Feeling in my heart that I can’t get over

I know that it’s coming like the sun come up

Tell me do you feel like say, everybody say

Party people say, party people say

Ay, it’s a new day, it’s a new day

While they getting ready, everybody ready, yeah

For a new day, for a new day

Celebrate and say, ay, ay, ay, ay

Eyes on the wall

It’s now or never at all

I’m gonna give it my all

Whether I rise or fall

I’m gonna give it my all

Party people say, party people say

Ay, it’s a new day, it’s a new day

While they getting ready, everybody ready, yeah

For a new day, for a new day

Celebrate and say…

Celebrate and say…

Celebrate and say…

Celebrate and say…

Interview with Ruben Diaz Jr. – President of The Borough of the Bronx – 2012

In the State Assembly, Ruben Diaz Jr. served as Chair of the Committee on Election Law and on the Assembly’s Standing Committees on Education, Ways & Means, Children and Families, Environmental Conservation and Transportation. He was also a member of the Assembly’s Puerto Rican and Hispanic Task Force and the Black/Puerto Rican and Asian Legislative Caucus.

Since becoming borough president, Diaz led the opposition to the proposed redevelopment of the Kingsbridge Armory, based on concerns over future wages at the retail mall, traffic impact on the neighborhood and the potential of the new project to conflict with businesses on nearby Fordham Road. Following that battle, Diaz convened the Kingsbridge Armory Task Force, which released a report in June 2011 that outlined a number of potential uses for the Kingsbridge Armory that would not include a retail mall. The Bloomberg Administration agreed, and in January 2012 the City issued a new RFP for the Kingsbridge Armory that focused on a wide variety of uses.

Diaz has also led the charge for a new “living wage” law in New York City, which would require developers that receive heavy taxpayer funding for their project to pay the employees of that development a “living wage.” In May 2012, the City Council passed such a law, which had been introduced at the behest of the borough president, giving New York City the strongest “living wage” law in the United States.
Diaz has also put forward a strong agenda to bring new business to the Bronx, while also making it easier for existing businesses to stay. In November 2009, Diaz hosted the borough’s first ever economic summit, in coordination with the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation, which brought together business, community and not-for-profit leaders from across the Bronx and the region to discuss the economic goals of the borough. Since then, the borough president’s office and the BOEDC have helped hundreds of businesses improve their operations, and have brought thousands of new jobs to the Bronx.

Bishop Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize Winner Speaking on Early Child Marriage Issues

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the South African anti-apartheid activist, Nobel Peace Prize winner and chair of the Elders, a group of independent global leaders working for human rights, was in Washington on Wednesday to promote his latest campaign: ending child marriage in the developing world. In 2011, the Elders created “Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnership to End Child Marriage,” which now has 200 members in 38 countries.

“We are really pushing this campaign for ending child marriage by 2030. It’s prevalent all over what you might call the developing world. It’s in virtually every African country, said Tutu. “I was actually surprised. I used to think it was something that happened only in Asia. My eyes were opened by the fact that the highest incidence is actually in Africa.”
It is a tradition where the family recognizes that they will benefit economically from dowries and things of that kind, and also having one less mouth to feed. They also think they are concerned for the girl’s virtue, that she might end up maybe being raped. It’s economic, too. For a new family [that the woman is married into], you have one extra pair of hands.

But it is a very debilitating practice. The girl child is not physically, let alone emotionally, ready to bear a child. The statistics are that girls who give birth when they are under 15 are five times more likely to die giving birth than girls of 19 and over. Their children are 60 times more likely to die before their first birthday.
The World Liberty TV Team was on hand at The CGI 2012, where we had the pleasure of hearing Archbishop Desmond Tutu, on the topic of Early Marriage.
