On May 2, 2017 from 6 PM to 9 PM, more than 60 restaurants, beverage purveyors, and dessert makers to provide samples of their products to 700 attendees. It’s Queens, so diversity will be on display from first bite with everything from creamy to crunchy, fiery to flaky, and savory to sweet. Astoria’s Sabor de Cuba will probably offer shredded beef with plantains, while La Adelita in Woodside might give away Mexican chalupas. The Nest, a Guyanese/Trinidadian eatery in Richmond Hill, usually dishes out curry, jerk, and BBQ chicken, and Bayside’s Bareburger should bequeath beer-braised bacon with stout onions on a mustard pretzel bun. So delicious!.
With delicious dishes, divine drinks,and dazzling desserts,the Queens Economic Development Council hosted Queens Taste 2017 at the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona park on Tuesday May 2nd from 6pm-9pm.
The reasons to attend are as diverse as the borough .More than 60 restaurants, beverage purveyors ,and dessert makers offered samples of their products. Foodies can have a ball and expect everything from crunchy to creamy ,fiery to flaky and sweet to sour.
Last year ,Astoria’s Sabor De Cuba offered shredded beef with plantains ,while La Adelita in Woodside gave away Mexican Chalupas.Alobar in Long Island City served savory potato pierogis with a creamy sauce,The Nest, a Guyanese/ Trinidadian eatery in Richmond Hill, dished out curry,jerk,and BBQ chicken,and Bayside’s Bareburger bequeathed beer –raised bacon with stout onions on a mustard pretzel bun.
This years line up was is even more diverse with Cypriot, Georgian ,Jamaican, Kosher, Moldovan, Paraguayan and Thai restaurants ready to participate .Plus ,clients of the Entrepreneur Space, a food- and- business incubator that QEDC operates in Long Island City, was on hand with their artisan specialties ,such as gluten-free products and ethnic desserts.
On the alcohol side ,Chris Murillo ,who owns the local distillery Queens Courage ,mixed gin based drinks .In addition ,four wine purveyors will pour at seven beer products will be on the tap.
Tea totalers were able to quench their thirst with-what else ? –bubble tea provided by Chatime.
Finally there were the networking .Most of the anticipated 650 attendees either live in Queens or do business in the borough (or both).
So this will be the perfect scene to meet like minded individuals ,talk shop ,and exchange business cards in a friendly atmosphere.
