The National Hispanic Business Group (NHBG) was founded in 1985 by a group of prominent Hispanic entrepreneurs with a vision to create an organization entrusted with developing opportunities for Hispanic Businesses. Our goal is to seek out and expand our opportunities for its members by fostering dialogue and economic exchange with the Public and Private sectors, while supporting social change and community empowerment.
Today the NHBG is recognized as a valuable business resource and a voice in the advocacy efforts of the Hispanic business community. Our founders’ vision has grown into an influential network of business leaders who have built a network of capable high performing companies and established powerful business partnerships with public and private sector. Our members represent many industries with proven track records of performing beyond the expectations of their clients. We have a member mentorship spirit and work with one another to support growth and development of their respective businesses. With regularly scheduled meetings of the membership, events, procurement networking opportunities, and ongoing communications, the NHBG maintains a direct line of communication with all of its stakeholders.
Our organization is funded by an annual membership fee, and we host our Annual Gala, which brings together senior leadership from the private and public sectors. The event awards individuals who effectively assist us in efforts to achieve our mission and also honors exemplary Hispanic business students with scholarships. The NHBG holds an Annual Golf Outing which is held every September and is specifically focused to raise fund for our scholarship program.
Education Fund: The National Hispanic Business Group (NHBG) strongly believes in the idea of providing young adults with an opportunity to achieve personal fulfillment and success through higher education. Through its Education Fund, the NHBG encourages and motivates students interested in attending college in pursuit of a business degrees. Since its inception in 1993, the Education Fund has provided over a quarter of a million in scholarships to assist Hispanic college students complete their education.
With over a third of the Hispanic population in the U.S. less than 18 years of age, helping to provide opportunities to young adults interested in achieving a higher education is a critical component for shaping the next generation of business and community leaders. Through our Education Fund, the NHBG gives back to the community by providing financial assistance to Hispanic students enrolled in an accredited College or University on a full time basis and in pursuit of an undergraduate business degree.
The National Hispanic Business Group’s 32nd Annual Gala 2017 was held at Cipriani Wall Street NY ,with over 300 people in attendance , The Following were honored: Hispanic Achievement in Government Award Wendy Garcia, Chief Diversity Officer ,Office of the New York City Comptroller .Corporate Appreciation Award to Susan Hogan, Supplier Diversity Manager Procumbent Organization,Public Service Enterprise Group Inc, (PSEG).Corporate Hispanic Advocacy Award to Mayra Maisch, Vice President head of America’s real estate development ,Goldman Sachs and Co. Public sector Appreciation Award, to Anthony Peterson, Director Diversity Program , Hugh L.Carey Battery Park City Authority.
Lisa Mateo ,Host Celebrity taste makers Reporter, PIX 11 Morning News , was the Emcee for the event. Chef Ricardo Cardona was the guest chef ,music by Charan Salsa and Scholarships were presented to 3 students.
